Central Self Storage

Back in 2003, when Pacific Mini Storage in Alameda, CA needed to increase their storage space to meet their customers’ needs, they had to decide whether to build up or build out. Located just outside of San Francisco’s city limits, Alameda is not immune to the area’s high real estate costs, so the team at Pacific Mini Storage quickly realized that maximizing their existing space was the way to go.

MiTek Mezzanine Systems designed and installed an industrial mezzanine directly above existing storage units. This doubled the facility’s revenue by adding over 54,000 square feet of additional storage space. An expanded metal handrail was used to ensure the safety of both customers and staff at the facility. Additionally, ResinDek flooring was installed to accommodate heavy foot traffic and up to 2,700 pounds on a pallet jack.

Since then, Pacific Mini Storage was acquired by Central Self Storage. In March of 2016, MiTek went to visit the facility to make sure that the mezzanine was meeting all of Central Self Storage’s needs. Christy, the manager at Central Self Storage, says that they continue to be impressed with the mezzanine:

“As far as the comments on how the mezzanine has held up… fantastic! It was put together so well that there is not a door out of alignment. Everything seems so perfect. I have been here for almost seven years and I haven’t found one thing that anyone could complain about. MiTek did a really good job designing and installing it.”
